Tigers look like they are going to lose another winnable game because that is what bad teams do. Find a way to lose. Greyson doing his part to get Spencer Torkelson going today. https://t.co/6CK0iIBKHy
Spencer Torkelson crushes walkoff homer for the Mud Hens after strong rehab outing from Eduardo Rodriguez, while Parker Meadows and the Flying Tigers’ youth put together good games on Thursday https://t.co/CYBMj527Sd
The Detroit #Tigers were hoping to end their rebuild and begin contending in 2022 but the entire lineup either underperformed or got injured from big signing Javy Baez to coveted top prospect Spencer Torkelson. The bullpen has improved immensely from 2021... (pt 1) https://t.co/5mDFR9BBn9
For comparison's sake, here are some other Toledo numbers translated in the same fashion:

Spencer Torkelson is hitting .197 at Toledo after 0-4 w/3 Ks tonight. Sigh. Tork will recover, but one wonders if his profile is always going to include long slumps where he hits like a weak utility infielder.
@jrbonn @DarkoStateNews His OPS+ of 72 would rank 7th among Tigers starters. When you include non-qualifiers like Dustin Garneau, he'd rank 13th, between Robbie Grossman and Spencer Torkelson. His -0.9 WAR would be the second-worst on the team, behind Tucker Barnhart and ahead of Torkelson.
It is wildly too early to give up on Spencer Torkelson or to compare him to some mediocre player. Let's not do this doom stuff. He's been steadily improving in Toledo. The other day he went 0-5, and everyone was like SEE!? Then the next game was like 3/4 with a homer.
I know it's early.
I know it's early.
I KNOW IT'S EARLY, and Spencer Torkelson might yet end up being a Judge-esque home-run-launching superstar.
But if that 1OA turns into nothing, that will set the Detroit Tigers back YEARS -- as much as getting zero for Verlander and J.D.
END 6: Mud Hens 7, Cubs 4
Mud Hens with FOUR home runs tonight, has tilted the game in Toledo's favor!! 😃
