Five Mets BOLD predictions for 2022
1. Jeff McNeil rebounds
2. Edwin Diaz makes the All-Star game
3. Khalil Lee makes the opening day roster
4. Drew Smith/Miguel Castro make big steps forward
5. Carlos Correa is the opening day 3B
Khalil Lee in AAA Syracuse:
His ceiling is most definitely not a “strong 4th/fringe 3rd outfielder” Get a grip. https://t.co/WkhUwxEMj9
@genymets @mikemayer22 I am betting he moves to Seattle with all the other Mets. And 1 hitting coach will get Mike to cover the holes in his swing. The Mets hitting coaches never fixed him fully. He was steaky and too prone to strike outs. He was a good team guy though. Khalil Lee, you're next!
Mets RCs: Franklyn Kilomé, Khalil Lee, and Travis Blankenhorn. Ali Sánchez is with the Cardinals. Pat Mazeika, Jake Hager, and Johneshwy Fargas were also eligible but did not get cards. https://t.co/i0M0fh153u
@JCitrin40 @scvball @SNY_Mets I think 2 of those FAs are possible. I think 3B and RF will be filled by rookies. I think Khalil Lee and Mark Vientos have a real shot at being Mets in '22. Lee looks like he has the potential to be real good. After being sent to SYR he seems to have improved
Congrats to #Mets prospect Khalil Lee (@lilswingman24) on being named an AAA East All-Star.
Lee stats were impressive in 2021. He hit .274, 14 HR, 37 RBI. Also, he led a league & set a @SyracuseMets record with a .451 OBP. #LGM https://t.co/HXBE6ZuWHF
@Everacchi5 @SNY_Mets No such thing as Zero. If the Mets said We will offer you Khalil Lee, Ronny Mauricio, and Brett Baty or Matt Allen with the possibility of also giving up our first round pick in 2022, the Orioles would be absolutely foolish not to strongly consider that.
Outfielder Khalil Lee (@lilswingman24) is a 2021 Triple-A East League All-Star!
Lee played in 102 games for us in 2021, hitting .274 with 37 RBIs, 14 home runs, 20 doubles, and two triples.
Lee led the league and set a Syracuse franchise record with a .451 on-base percentage. https://t.co/40FKCuAvgV
@PSLToFlushing Oh, and Khalil Lee had a very impressive AAA season and is underrated by Mets fans because of his poor+brief MLB stint. Him and Vientos should have a good shot of making the opening day roster in 2022
@ernestdove Do we really need to see Khalil Lee that badly? The Mets don’t have that sort of high level prospect so close to the Majors yet. I trust it will happen in the next few years and more than we are used to, but not now.
The Mets carried Albert Almora Jr for most of September
Khalil Lee should have been up in my opinion. He had more RBI’s for the #Mets this year than Almora
Lee had a big September slashing .311/.440/.635 in Triple-A. I agree he should be a factor in 2022 https://t.co/lk2w2I7v9S
@CGRamos7 @mangosandanimu @genymets You say mets keep the bad and get rid of the good. I'm saying they dont extend anybody. Wright had an OPS+ of 133. Conforto is 123. Conforto is one of the good. Who is going to play RF then? Khalil Lee???
@ernestdove I really hope the new PBO (and new organizational coaching staff) allows Khalil Lee to steal bases again. That’s a great weapon to have if you plan on having a playoff team eventually.
Sandy’s Mets don’t run nearly enough.
Mets outfield prospect Khalil Lee hit his 14th home run of the season (6th in September) last night for Triple-A Syracuse.
Lee’s 161 wRC+ ranks 8th among 839 minor leaguers with at least 300 plate appearances this season.
Mets should be playing young guys like Khalil Lee and Mark Vientos in these final games. Taking a look at their development at MLB level is important not delaying service time a very Wilponian move. Thats why Alderson has to go. #LGM
It’s dumb to see some ppl blaming the Mets FO for this year. A lot of the offseason moves worked out:
Cookie (after the 1st)
Walker (AS although he fell off)
Pillar (as a bench piece)
ReidFoley (when healthy)
Khalil Lee (solid prospect)
Still wondering why Khalil Lee hasn't been called up for some September starts on a bad Mets team. Dude has a 1.057 OPS over his last 46 games in Syracuse, he seems ready. Or at least a lot more ready than he was last time around.
@nick_cro Lmao, word. I agree with loup and Villar, rather see the Mets experiment with Khalil Lee or get a speedster and let Pillar walk imo. But knowing the Mets they will run it back and waste another year of degrom
Mark Vientos, Khalil Lee. Cheslor Cuthbert, and David Thompson all homered in Syracuse’s doubleheader yesterday against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. Come see how the rest of the prospects did here! https://t.co/1cXbXTpGrp

the cupboard is somewhat bare but there are definitely some gems in this system #LFGM 🍎

I am just fascinated by how much talent the Mets have in the minors. The Mets are going to be an offensive powerhouse in the next few years.
The @SyracuseMets (46-68) won last over Worchster 7-1
🔥#Mets #6 prospect Mark Vientos went 3-for-3 with a double and a home run
💪#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 2-for-4 with a home run and 2 RBI
⚾️#Mets #25 prospect Eric Orze pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief
In other Syracuse Mets news Khalil Lee homered while going 2 for 4 and P Josh Walker went 5 inn 2 H 1 ER 2 BB 7 K. Mets depth can look different in 2022 but I kinda always say that. Let's try not blowing through 60 players this year in majors.
The @SyracuseMets (45-68) won last night over Worchester 4-3
⚾️#Mets #6 prospect Mark Vientos went 2-for-4 with an RBI in his Triple-A debut
⚾️#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 1-for-4 with an RBI
⚾️SP Jordan Yamamoto threw 4 innings, giving up 1 run while striking out 2
@CraigJetMetFan @JayEliott_ @jeffmazen11 @TimothyRRyder And how does an OF of:
RF Khalil Lee
Make the Mets a better team in 2022...
Khalil Lee is worse than Corforto against AAA pitching https://t.co/SYJuts7gTE
The @SyracuseMets (44-68) lost last night to Worchester 5-4
⚾️#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 1-for-4 with a double
💪LF Mark Payton went 2-for-5 with a triple and a home run
⚾️RP Sean Reid-Foley pitched a perfect inning of relief
@TurkStevens @AnthonyDiComo Arm care doesnt explain Reed who has been on the IL and pitched a whopping 9.1 innings getting the 11th over Trevor Williams. And it doesnt explain why Almora is even in the bigs with Khalil Lee, Brandon Drury, Jose Peraza and Jose Martinez all available in Syracuse! Smh
Khalil Lee, the Mets' eighth-ranked prospect, hit .147/.293/.206 in April and May before his first call-up.
He's since caught fire at Triple-A Syracuse, batting .276/.462/.571 with 7 HR, 14 XBH, 4 SB in his last 36 games. Should put him in good position heading into 2022.
@EDSdt1234 Where does he play, especially if the Mets pursue Baez? Having him in LF is the same has having Dom. Good bat when hot, tentative glove. If Khalil Lee sparks, you'll want him in the OF. Third? Keep Villar or pursue Bryant as a FA. And despite the doubters, Mauricio is coming.
Honestly, its perplexing. The Mets seemed so promising when they were winning games with Khalil Lee, Cameron Maybin, and Wilfredo Tovar... just to fall apart with Michael Conforto, Dom Smith, and Jeff McNeil https://t.co/5dJLS14CLE
I don’t know why our corner outfielders are fucking useless this season but Khalil Lee is tearing it up in Syracuse. Like what’s the definition of insanity? Besides grounding/lining out to the right side of the infield for eternity?
The @SyracuseMets (44-67) won yesterday in Buffalo 10-2
💪#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 3-for-4 with 2 home runs
⚾️LF Mark Payton went 3-for-5 with an RBI
⚾️SP Jerad Eickhoff gave up 0 earned runs while striking out 6 over 6 innings
@joker5339 @mikemayer22 Brandon Nimmo might be "oft-injured" but he's not being displaced by Khalil Lee in CF. Lee has seen the majority of his PT in the corners. Pretty clearly the Mets don't view him as a fill-time CF.
Jerad Eickhoff has struck out five of the nine batters he has faced so far through three innings pitched for the @SyracuseMets tonight.
Khalil Lee has hit a home run in each of his first two at-bats tonight for Syracuse.
Mets OF prospect Khalil Lee had another Khalil Lee game yesterday. On base 3 times (H, 2 BB) with 2 Ks and a stolen base.
.371 OBP in Sept with high K rate. Ongoing work in progress. Wonder what 2022 has in store.
The @SyracuseMets (43-67) won last night in Buffalo 3-2
💪#Mets #18 prospect Travis Blankenhorn went 1-for-3 with a home run
⚾️#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 1-for-3 with a stolen base
⚾️Jordan Yamamoto (rehab) pitched 3 scoreless innings while striking out 6
The @SyracuseMets lost last night 8-5 in Buffalo
⚾️#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 1-for-3 with an RBI double
⚾️SS Wilfredo Tovar went 2-for-4 with 2 RBI
⚾️RP Jake Reed pitched an inning of scoreless relief
Huge night for Benintendi. Love to see it.
And in case you were wondering, Khalil Lee has an .884 OPS in the Mets minors this year. W/ a ridiculous .439 OBP. Dude has more walks than hits.
No particular conclusion, opinion or comment intended. Just weird.
The @SyracuseMets (42-65) lost last night in Buffalo 8-4
⚾️#Mets #8 prospect Khalil Lee went 1-for-3 with a walk
💪RF Jose Martinez (rehab) went 3-for-3 with 2 home runs
⚾️RP Franklyn Kilome pitched 1.1 innings, giving up 1 run while striking out 2

SS Wilfredo Tovar - 3-4, .298
RP Alex Sanabia - 1.1-IP, 0-R

@GeorgeFalkowski @SyracuseMets @Mets @doug9494 @ogsmar @Akitaville2 @jj9892454 @Count2Baseball @MoonGrahamShow @pietanza_joseph @thedadhat216 @metsrewind @AndyNY2 Khalil Lee is as good as they come on that roster. So why not.
Syracuse Roster Moves Yesterday
-IF Brandon Drury added to the Syracuse roster
-OF Khalil Lee added to the Syracuse roster
-RHP Jake Reed begins rehab assignment with Syracuse
-RHP Geoff Hartlieb DFAd
-OF Albert Almora Jr. promoted to Mets
The Mets called up Khalil Lee & Albert Almora jr yesterday to take 2 spots. Today, they called up Yennsy Diaz to replace Lee who was sent back down. I don’t get the sudden shift to Yennsy Diaz. What is going on with the Mets FO!!??! @mets #LGM #Mets #NYMets #MetsTwitter

Khalil Lee getting his second shot in the bigs, being recalled from Triple-A Syracuse due to the September roster expansion. Albert Almora Jr. will be joining him as well. Lee has definitely improved since his last appearance in Queens. #Mets #MetsTwitter
Khalil Lee since July 1:
.252/.466/.504, .970 OPS
His .450 OBP with Syracuse this season is tied for the 3rd-highest mark among 893 minor league players with a min. 250 PAs this season. #Mets #LGM https://t.co/NUFnKy52lb
