CF: Starling Marte

Excuse my cynical nature but hearing the Mariners speak pretty openly about Julio Rodriguez making the team on Opening Day makes me think they've had discussions on a contract extension that could be announced during the offseason.
Could Julio Rodriguez make a run at the Mariners Opening Day roster?
The club says it won't stand in his way.
"I wouldn't put anything past him."

In addition to my work for the Everett Herald, I'll be doing some writing for @BaseballAmerica as its Mariners correspondent.
My first article is on prized prospect Julio Rodriguez, who is Baseball America's minor league POY for the Mariners. https://t.co/X9WTrBNhzJ
@claypanzeri @colinokeefe They have plenty of bats. Julio Rodriguez and don't forget about Kyle lewis. You add those two to the lineup and all you need is 1 more big bat. So an Ace Pitcher and a huge bat thats all we need in order for the Mariners to be a legit world series contender
Mariners past, present & future: photo deep-cuts from last weekend -- Alvin Davis escorts OF Julio Rodriguez to get "Mr. Mariner" award; Jarred's glove; fans want their Hannygraphs; "Ky-le. Sea-ger." After awakening fan base during playoff chase, Mariners have reason to ‘Believe Big’ this offseason. Latest @StoneLarry column https://t.co/UDm9BqTIBT via @SeaTimesSports (photos: GM Jerry Dipoto w/Julio Rodriguez before Saturday's win. Seats await fans Sunday.) https://t.co/x4KJcI6caJ
The Mariners stuff was fun, but I was rooting way harder for the Blue Jays tbh. I think the Mariners' window won't open until Julio Rodriguez makes the majors. He could have the same effect that Acuña had on the Braves.
Yusei Kikuchi/Kyle Seager (?)
The Seattle Mariners will have to wait another year, but their future is bright. https://t.co/hvN74XN9Zb
Seattle is headed home as well if everything holds up...Fantastic season there and they played without Kyle Lewis for most of the season...We'll be seeing another OF stud in Julio Rodriguez early next year too...The Future's So Bright They Gotta Wear Shades...

If the Mariners really wanted to win down the stretch, they would have called up Julio Rodriguez and hit him leadoff for their final games. You cannot possibly convince me he wouldn't be their best hitter.
@Nk8P1 @_Hornik_ Keep dreaming- look at September for his turnaround. Enjoy watching him land. Mariners have a good future ahead of them. This team is the base for all the amazing prospects coming next year. Julio Rodriguez- will be a better hitter than Kelenic.
Team: Seattle Mariners
MVP: Marcus Semien
Cy Young: Logan Gilbert
Rookie of The Year: Julio Rodriguez
Most Improved Player: Jarred Kelenic
Comeback Player: Kyle Lewis
Reliever of the year: munoz/ Sewald https://t.co/bhGQWtTSlr
@macjonesplusmm They are gonna finish like 3 games back of the Astros and they are gonna lose their best player while the Mariners will have breakout years from Gilbert and Kelenic and will have a Julio Rodriguez roty season. And Lewis will be back.

Julio Rodriguez heading to Seattle? https://t.co/dx9jVN0jbx
It doesn't matter if Seattle doesn't make the postseason this year
-Kelenic is making the adjustments
-Kyle Lewis has been out for 3/4 of the year
-Julio Rodriguez is in AA
-Gilbert is only getting better
-Brash, Kirby, Hancock are on their way
See my point?

@RealJRAnderson Why has Julio Rodriguez spent the entirety of 2021 in AA? Just now realized that Seattle never promoted him. Really thought after killing it in the Olympics they'd at least get him in AAA at some point this season.
Travelers end their season with an 11-6 loss.
Julio Rodriguez 3-5, 2B, R, RBI
Joe Rizzo 3-5, 2B, RBI
Jose Caballero 1-2, RBI, 2BB, 2SB
Jack Larsen 1-4, 2R, BB
Patrick Frick 1-3, R, BB
Dayeison Arias 2.2IP, 1H, 0R, 2BB, 6K
Nate Fisher 2.2IP, 0H, 0R, 0BB, K
Blue Jays RHP Nate Pearson graduates from prospect status for MLBPipeline.
Mariners C Harry Ford enters the list no. 100.
That'll give Seattle a 5th Top 100 prospect, joining Julio Rodriguez, Noelvi Marte, George Kirby and Emerson Hancock.
No, Julio Rodriguez shouldn’t be called up to try and “help the Mariners make a post season push” because that would be dumb. Let him compete for a spot on the 26-man in March 2022 which he’ll likely get considering he’s a potential future prodigy. Calling him up now does nothing
I no longer care if the mariners call up Julio Rodriguez this year beyond the mild rush of the initial call up. The time to add potential impact talent is when there’s time for it to impact a playoff race and as usual the mariners chose to largely sit that time out.
Travelers lose Game 2, 6-4.
Julio Rodriguez 1-2, R, 2BB, 2SB
Zach DeLoach 1-4, HR, 2RBI
David Sheaffer 2-2, 2B, 2RBI, BB
Patrick Frick 1-3, R
Jose Caballero 0-1, R, 2BB
Bobby Honeyman 0-2, BB
Jack Larsen 0-3, BB
Only blemish in a scoreless first inning for Simeon Woods Richardson was an infield hit by Seattle Mariners farmhand Julio Rodriguez, the No. 2 prospect in the game. Fastball sat 92-94 mph and his changeup looked nasty. #MNTwins
My favorite is baseball! I root for
Atlanta teams (Braves >>>)
Georgia Bulldogs football
I do not like soccer! shit sucks

Jake Scheiner 1-4, 2B, R
Jordan Cowan 1-4, R
David Sheaffer 0-3, BB
George Kirby 5IP, 10H, 3R, BB, 4K
If I was the Mariners I’m calling up Julio Rodriguez and seeing if his discipline and approach translate. They are ONE game out of the Playoffs and giving OF AB’s at two OF positions to a combination of Kelenic (.163), Marmolejos (.158), Trammell (.160) and Moore (.173).
It's still just the 7th and Julio Rodriguez is 4-for-4 with 2 HR and a walk.
Brandon Williamson went 5, allowed 2 ER on 7 hits, 9 SO, no walks.
Good stuff happening all year down on the farm for Seattle.
@Cream_Friche I don’t think that would be the only future star that would be in the program like with the mariners they have some good options for a future stars (kelenic,Julio Rodriguez and more) The giants could get a Joey bart and the nationals get a juiced keibert Ruiz
Travelers win 10-3!
Julio Rodriguez 3-6, 2B, 3R, RBI
Jack Larsen 4-6, 2R
Joe Rizzo 2-6, 2B, 2R, 2RBI
Kaden Polcovich 1-4, 3RBI, SF
Zach DeLoach 2-6, R
Patrick Frick 3-5, R
Jake Scheiner 2-6, R
David Sheaffer 1-5
Steven Moyers 5IP, 1H, 0R, BB, 5K, WIN
@cprhou @BenDuBose That talent guff is going to shrink considerably next season. Brantley and Yuli, the current two best hitters, another year older. Same with Altuve. Meanwhile, the Mariners have Lewis back to go along with Julio Rodriguez coming up.
@FrankMacniven @squidjiggle @whatdoe50030018 @Jomboy_ Yes it’s happening with Gil. If you want more information about service times, there’s a video of the Mariners GM over the past 6-9 months where he talks about the idea behind manipulating service time and how they’re not bringing up Julio Rodriguez no matter how well he plays
Teams who could get Future Stars this time around
Orioles - Adley Rutschman
Tigers - Spencer Torkelson
Royals - Bobby Will Jr
Mariners - Julio Rodriguez
Cardinals- Nolan Gorman
Reds - Hunter Greene
Giants - Joey Bart
Diamondbacks - Jordan Lawlar
It’s awesome seeing Mariners prospects so high in the rankings. We had Kelenic top 3, now Julio Rodriguez is top 2 or above & now I’m seeing Noelvi Marte top 5 almost everywhere. It’s going to be a great future.

Layer in some money this offseason, Mariners could be real good.
A great time at Dickey-Stephens Park tonight, even if the Travelers fall another game behind the Wind Surge.
Travs player of the game has to be Julio Rodriguez, who legged out a run in the first & went 3-4.

Tomorrow the Mariners need to call up Julio Rodriguez to Tacoma. Do not call him up to Seattle in the middle of a playoff run! That would be the wrong thing to do, because JR is possibly gonna be what JK was thought to be.
